- lets rationalise ropes between us - its pointless everybody carrying their own.  How many of us will be climbing? I have  two sixty metre half ropes for starters.

How do people feel about each climber bring one 60m rope?  When climbing if both ropes are skinnies it should be ok, if one's a skinny and one's a fatty, the owner of the fatty can lead the long run-outs  :o...  if abbing on odd sizes don't use a Shunt as backup.

My I suggest those who havent blagged a bed, blag one now. it will be easier to allocate, er, I mean get volunteers, to drive a car parked outside the house you're sleeping in. I know it sounds picky but last year even though the houses were in the same terrace one house had one driver and another had twenty drivers (or close to it, it seemed) and it affected flexibility and increased dithering time first thing.

Sounds good to me! So PeteB and I could drive... we managed in Corsica
If you can drive in Corsica for more then one day without rounding off the corners of the car, you can drive anywhere, anytime, anyhow. its the only place where two cars of 2 metres wide each can pass on a road 21/4 metres wide. It's true!

The 'old' guide (I've got a borrowed 2002 edition) has lots (abt 50) of routes from grade 3 (many in the 4s and 5s, lots in the 6s) to 7s from 50 metres to 180 metres. (one is 280 but it's probably a typo)

Would it be sense to have:
One big car for the bikers/those not addicted to climbing
One car EACH for the houses - so the UpAfterEleven house can get up late and go climbing late, the UpAtAMoreNormalTime house can get up at , er, a more normal time and get the same amount of climbing in plus a siesta and beer at lunch time, and one car for the UpWhileTheMoonIsStillUp house for the proper climbers, insomniacs and those who want to blag climbs they haven't done while no-one was looking and don't want to get caught   (bagsy I be in this house please).

Also if volunteers could drive the cars that correspond with their own sleep patterns... say 2 per house.... or is that getting too complicated? ???  It's the sunday morning coffee you know :'(

I'm happy to drive for the Dawn Chorus house.

Thanks. Cala Gonone. I hope the street addresses of the flats are on the booking form or we'll never find where home is?

Sardinia Trip March/April 2009 / Guide Books
« on: March 04, 2009, 03:56:32 pm »
Does any one want me to round up guide books?

I have a copy of Pietra di Luna (£30 ish) Covers the whole island but the topos look pretty wooly for some places.
We ought to have a couple of these and a couple of:

Arrampicare a Cala Gonone (£19) and published Jan 2009 so it ought to be up to date.

I also have a copy of RF's Cala Luna mini guide.

there are others - have a fiddle around www.climb-eurpoe.com/rockclimbingshop/guidebooks_for_Sardinia.html

UK shops like Needlesports only stock a couple of each title and sometimes charge a premium for postage too, so we might find it easier to order lots from one place, give them time to get them from their supplier and we might just save a quid on the post. or a few from lots of places to be sure we get them in time.  Not long to go.

Unless anyone has a better idea?

...or a couple of 7 seaters - will reduce options but might be cheaper?

Found a forecast at:

Sunny for the first few days then partly or mostly cloudy. Temps in 70's. No rain (or snow) forecast (yet). looks good enough for me!

One and a half pairs of socks is enough.
Day 1: 2 socks worn and one spare
Day 2: Left sock goes on right foot, clean sock on left foot, spare in wash
Day 3: Washed one goes on left foot, left sock is moved onto right foot, right sock gets washed.
Day 4, as day 3.
etc ad infinitum (till they wear out  :o)

14
Yep, booked at Purple.

I should be able to do 1 evening, tues is as good as any.
I want to meet up with Cef too to pick up my goodies - Cef can you make it?
Alan

Yep, my 2 new ropes are 60m skinnies (8.5mm), so with Peri bringing the older (bit not much used) 60m single there's plenty spare.
I'll be bringing wires, a small rack of larger stuff, enough quicks to clip 15 plus 4 slings and a getout kit (prussiks, spare tape, biner) and a knife so I can do my Simon Yates impression if (I'm not using my own rope).

Anybody want to go multi-pitching with me?

17
I'll share a room with anyone as long as they don't snore louder than me :o
I'm prepared to be an early riser for the week (it'll be more fun than working)

18
<<<Oi, I was first!>>>

Well, they are sort of Krab size ;D I don't have a micrometer handy, but they are good size snap gates, not mini size and not nicked from a dockyard crane.  They're not screwgates either Peri, you worry too much, there'll be another runner below you to catch  you in the unlikely event anything fails. :-X, the bolts are quite close together in Spain - as close as 4 or 5 metres sometimes! :'(. You don't I d be flogging Screwies for a Spanish beer do you?
(I'm new to these bulletin boards, cant make the quote thing work properly).
