packing tips ...
« on: April 03, 2008, 09:24:06 am »

time to think about stuffing all that crap into a bag - some points to consider
(simon will be along to disagree in moment or two)

* put a tag with adreess inside your bag
* most of us have 20kg + 5 hand - doesnt mean you MUST take 20kg !
* make sure your bag doesnt weigh 4kg !
* cheap holdall is fine or rucsac you will be using during week
* even though we will be going out for a meal -wont be posh dress !

* if getting close to limit, wear all your clothes at check in

  • Hand luggage
    * you can use quite a large rucsac (40..50l as hand luggage as long as the back isnt too long)
    * you have 5kg of hand luggage - use it
    * possibly not allowed in hanf luggage
        rope, harness,  odd metal work,
    * def not allowed
          knifes, spikey stuff, liquids > 100ml
    * fine in hand luggage
    • books,
    • guide books,
    • shoes,
    • helmet - i carry on to stop damage,
    • cameras
    • headtorch
    • ipods
    • chargers and plugs

    might want to take some food /bars/fruit/sarnies for journey

    anything else ?

Cooking gear is already provided!  As is bedding, and towels.  And there are shops over there too these days.

Just make sure you've got enough space left for less important things, like climbing gear, and spare socks :)
