betys-y-coed mayday bank holiday meet
« on: April 14, 2009, 08:23:37 pm »

I am going to start taking bookings for the Betwys y Coed meet on thursday at Brigantes. the Pen Y Clogwyn hut is booked for the nights 1-3rd may. According tto the hut site :

Located away from roads in the forest above Betws y Coed, the hut provides a quiet and atmospheric base for exploring the many mountains and crags in the area.

Basic Information
General    The hut is a ten minute walk up a track, in the forest above Betws y Coed. Everything is run off gas, as there is no electricity.
Building    Kitchen, lounge, and eating area; bunk room; separate ablutions block.
Sleeping Accommodation    Sleeps 18 on alpine style bunks: 12 in the bunk room and 6 on a loft platform in the main lounge. 6 spaces are reserved for members.
Heating    Open convector wood fire.
Kitchen    Gas rings, grills, oven, fridge, hot and cold running water, pots, pans and crockery.
Ablutions Block    Two flush toilets, three basins, shower, hot and cold running water, drying room.

Cost per night will be £6, so £18 for the three nights.

Assuming people think its a good idea I will organise the usual communal meal for at least one  night, and we can decide either to do another communal meal or eat out in Betys the other night, leaving people to sort themselves out on the day they travel down.

I will be at brigantes to take bookings this thursday from 10ish (probably climbing somewhere beforehand). lifts and directions will be organised closer to the weekend.

due to problems beyond our control with the hut, the meet is now a camping meet at the llanberis pass, Nant Peris campsite. Pete E and his brother are travelling up friday evening, myself guido jim plus either 1 or 2 others are travelling up early saturday morning and going straight to the crag. Margaret S may also come, if so she will come on saturday morning. the campsite is opposite the Vanwy pub in Nant Peris and does not require prior booking.
