Houses - sleeping arrangements, catering and locaton
« on: March 12, 2008, 11:08:21 am »

We have 3 houses each sleeps up to 6 people and there are (at the moment!) 16 of us - so  5,5,6
the houses have 1 double room and 2 twin rooms.  Bedding and towels provided.

I suggest that rather than fight it out when we arrive that we try and sort  ourseleves into house groups
(i know that Julie (my S.O.) would like to share with a house Tracy and  Pete B and possibly me :-),
I'd suggest Cef as 5th as he knows Jules and Pete B well.

if you want to partner up with someomne to share a room i suggest you sort it sooner rather than later!

Also catering for 16 is gonner be nuts - i think we should look after ourselves for breakfast and lunches and
possibly some evenings but try and sort at least a couple of communical meals and a night or 2 eating out
if there is anywhere suitable.  Catering may very much depend on the size and facilities of the houses

Flexibility is the key to being happy, if people want to do their own thing then that should be easy for them to sort.

LOCATION - where are these places....

Aledo is the place, south west from Murcia near Lorca

House arrangement sounds great. I too was hoping to be with Julie  (we need to practise our drunken olive tossing)

As to food etc I don't mind cooking and will do the annual lemon cake but may need some help if all houses are to get a taste.

For food shopping I suggest doing it by house...

To keep things simple, I'm happy to share with anyone.

Is it worth trying to keep the early risers together?  It looks like we already have a house of those who're unlikely to surface before noon.

For cooking, we don't need to decide until we get there and can see exactly how much space there is and what the facilities are like.

catering arrangements sound a good idea. I'd certainly like to find somewhere to eat out once or twice while were over there (dreams of tapas or am i being over optimistic?) - would also be happy to help out with a communal evening meal. Though I draw the line at attempting paella for 16.

Are there any other female club members not attached to a S.O. who would like to share a room? I dont snore or get up at obscenely early hours, and am reputed to be quiet when asleep. I have never been awake at the time to check up on myself so can only go on what others say.

Oh shame the 'drunken olive tossing' house is full - sounds just mine and Debbie's cup of tea! :)

If anyone wants to come in with Debbie and I, not usually up at the crack of dawn, particularly if Spanish plonk has been consumed the night before, please let us know.

Sounds good a mixture of eating out and a few communal meals.  :)

Don't worry, I'm sure we can arrange to toss some drunken olives in the other houses too if required  :)

Nothing set in stone as yet,  if pete shared with tracy depends on what Cef wanted to do, all a bit up in the air, Cef should join on at some point, he's
gone to vist his hairdresser in Washington (DC not Tyne and Wear !)

but as simon says im sure a bit of interhouse 'olive tossing' can be arranged !

Beside's PeteB is a fantastic sleeper - doesn't hear anyone or anything going bump in the night- even Spanish heavy metal bands :D

In terms of single young females' sleeping arrangements - don't forget that there are 18 beds spaces and 16 people, so two of you get a room to yourselves if you want!

This has nothing to do with houses, or sleeping arrangements but it may have something to do with catering! Is it Pete E's birthday or are we missing it?

I'm game to volunteer making a birthday cake.... :)

the lemon cake is not in question - just volunteering for a second pudding - Pete's choice if it's his birthday - cake or apple crumble (of course that's if we can find the ingredients) :D

Now that's more like it - mention of cake - I'll be a willing volunteer to be involved in making and eating!

I'll share a room with anyone as long as they don't snore louder than me :o
I'm prepared to be an early riser for the week (it'll be more fun than working)

hey sal, as far as i can work out there is a 'late riser' house, already fully booked, and an "up at sparrowfart" house for the notorious early risers (reveille at 6am followed by a shower in specially chilled water straight from the refrigerator and a vigorous 8 mile run before their breakfast of two dry oatcakes each). That leaves you and debs as the remaining refuge for sane risers, so shall I join in your house?

Looks as if the space left is in the sane riser house. That would suit Andrew and I. As we are not arriving until Monday, not sure of the time, will need to know which house and how to access it. I will have my mobile and Peter or Simon have the number. We will probably sort our own food out the Monday evening. If we need to bring bread, milk etc to cover the next morning just let us know.
