Unless anyone knows better there appears to be only one budget option (so it's probably better to book sooner rather than later!), from Luton to Cagliari with Easyjet http://www.easyjet.com

Out, 28th March £41.  dep. 14:35, arr. 18:20.  Other flights 26th or 30th.
Return, 4th April £23.  dep. 12:00, arr. 13:50.  Other flights 3rd or 6th.

sorry simon, the first thing they warned me when I applied to join YAC was "simon caldwell is a great big fibber"

I have to be at a family do in Derby Fri/Sat  and am thinking of  possibly coming back Friday
but need to hook up with others to make it viable for car share (long way to airport - 3 hours
too far for a lift)

Other possibility is going via Alghero in the north. 
Just canvassing opinions at the moment...

Ryanair
Liverpool to Alghero fly on Mondays only.
Stansted to Alghero, departs 06:15 Saturday 28th £15, returns 10:15 Saturday 4th £90.  Flights seem to be every day of the week at the same times and prices (can return on Thursday 2nd for £30).
East Midlands, it's listed as a route but no flights shown so probably not commencing until April/May.

Thomson also fly there but not until May.

Edit: Ryanair prices don't include taxes so add on £43 round trip. Plus £12 each way for one bag, £28 each way for 2! Probably a payment fee too.
Easyjet prices inclusive of taxes, add £7.50 each way per bag, and booking fee of £2 (debit card), £6 (credit card), free with Visa Electron.

Despite not knowing where I'll be in March  I have decided to book the same flight - I figure won't be that hard to get to Luton.  I'll book tomorrow if I'm sure of the one you guys have booked

Easyjet, Cagliari to London 4 April 12,00 arrive 13,50

I may need to arrange with someone to give me a lift to wherever villa (or hut? bivvy?) is on 28 march , or perhaps I could rent a car.

Same dates as the rest of us, so it'll work out fine with the car hire, you'll just have to wait for an hour for us to arrive

Now all we need to do is organise a set of park benches to sleep on.
