Wye Valley
26-27 June 2004

A disappointingly poorly attended meet. For various reasons, most of those who had been keen on going to the Wye couldn't go, so there were only 4 of us: me, Carmen, and the Evans brothers.

The Saturday was wet, so Carmen and I went to Gloucester Wall, while Peter and John went for a walk by the River Wye, stopping for a quick look at the crag of Shorn Cliff on the way.

John was only down for the day, but on Sunday we were joined by my friend Ian from Worcester. Despite a damp start, he assured us that Shorn Cliff would dry quickly (although it's hidden deep in the woods), and to our surprise he was right. We spent an excellent day there, climbing a number of good routes between Severe and E1. The rain even held off until the end of the afternoon, just as I was about to second the HVS, which proved interesting.

It's a shame that more people didn't make it. As well as the quality climbing, it's also a worthwhile mountain biking area (so I'm told), and the walking while not challenging takes you through some beautiful areas. Hopefully we'll be able to get back there in a year or two.
